What safety features do I want in a carseat?
Here are just a few:
- a 5-point harness (two shoulder straps, two waist straps, and one strap between the legs that meet in the middle)
- side-impact protection (extra foam or air pads at the side of baby's head)
- compatibility with the LATCH system (a way to fasten the base tightly without using seatbelts)
- nice, comfortable and cushier fabric
- straps that will be easy to adjust as my baby grows - ideally, I would want straps that will not have to be re-threaded
- an anti-rebound bar at the foot of the seat that limits the amount of movement during a crash

After much research and talk amongst friends, I have had great reviews and comments on the BRITAX BOULEVARD 70-G3!!!

I am entering Britax's giveaway - Lucy is now due for a new carseat and I HOPE I WIN!!

Have You Missed Me?

Well, I figured since Joey has been gone for 5 months now and I haven't blogged since then, it was about time. So where have I been? What have I been doing? I know you are all dying to know, huh?

DIERKS BENTLEY CONCERT
April 25, 2008

My cute friend Lindsay Meintel, who is a talkshow host on the morning show for 101.5 The Eagle got BACKSTAGE TICKETS to Dierks Bentley, so Annie Sonntag, Lindsay and myself went and had a blast! Don't Dierks and I make such a cute couple? We also met Bucky Covington (former American Idol contestant) after the concert. He's the drunk hottie with long, blonde hair below.

NEW YORK CITY TRIP
April 2008

(to visit Emily, Lance and William Bullen)

It was so fun to play with Em in NYC for 4 days (and right before she moved home too). Lots of fun runs, going out to eat, shopping, broadway play, waiting in line to try and get into Saturday Night Live and downtown Manhattan nightlife. We went to Jersey Boys and it was absolutely fabulous. Thanks for letting Emily and I have so many girls days/nights out Lance! I even got to meet up with Jessica Baucom for a morning stroll through Central Park before I headed back home.

JAZZ PLAYOFF GAME
May 1, 2008

Annie, Lindsay and I got tickets to Game 6 in the first round of the playoffs - Jazz vs. Rockies. Our seats were actually pretty good. We had a blast and the Jazz even won this game too!

ST. GEORGE TRIATHLON
MAY 10, 2008

Well....I completed my first triathlon!! My friends and I went to St. George. Three of my friends (Kisty, Sue and Brooks) did the triathlon with me, however I must have thought I was Super Woman or something because I signed up for the Olympic distance and they all did the Sprint distance. It was definitely a tough race - 40 mph winds and white-capped waters during the 1.2 mile swim (the swim ended up being cancelled for Sprint race), a head wind during the entire 24 miles of biking and running in St. George's red sand to finish it off - but SO much fun! I can't wait to do my next one.

SAN DIEGO ROCK 'N' ROLL MARATHON
JUNE 1, 2008
What would I do without Erin? Not only is she my absolute best friend and confidante, but she is the best running partner ever! We have run so many races together over the last year. We had such a fun weekend trip to San Diego to run the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon (my FOURTH marathon - can you believe that?). Erin's cute mom, Julie came with us to be our cheerleader and chaperone :) Besides the marathon, we had fun shopping, eating and getting lost driving around in our rental car!

PRE-MARATHON
Here we are picking up our race packets

POST-MARATHON
I can't believe I am posting this 'beautiful' picture of me (haha!), but oh well....
I LOVE YOU ERIN!!!!

MAX'S GRADUATION
June 5, 2008

I cannot believe the baby of the Wood family is out of highschool now. Max is my hero! He excelled so much and I love bragging about my littlest brother. Max got Academic All-State in football, basketball and track; was awarded Highland High's Nick Caputo award; received many scholarships to help out with college; was valedictorian with a perfect 4.0 GPA; Senior Class President; and "Mr. Perfect" according to Highland High's school newspaper article, haha! I LOVE YOU MAX! Congratulations and good luck with everything ahead! I know you will be just the same in college.

WASATCH BACK RELAY RACE
June 20-21, 2008
12 crazy girls, 181 miles, and 32 hours later our Highland Highschool team FEAR THE RAM made it from Logan to Park City. This is the second year I have done this race and each year gets better. This year I was runner #9 in the second van, so it switched it up A LOT from last year. We had a blast and it was so fun to be able to spend so much time with my highschool girls! Love you guys!

First leg of the race on Friday afternoon

Van #2 (Runners 7-12)
Me • Lindsey Fairclough Little • Lezlie Wagner •
Lauren Nelson Foulger • Megan Burton Woodley • Jessica Baucom

Camping out in between legs at East Canyon
Dunham, Rex, and Brandon & Katie Plewe came up to cheer us on and help us party!

Second leg of the race....there's nothing like running in the middle of the night.
My second leg was absolutely beautiful as I ran along Echo Lake at almost 3:00 am

Third leg - RAGNAR!!! (well, I ran the first part of the Ragnar hill - Lauren was amazing and ran the actual Ragnar) This stretch of the race was crazy - running in the middle of the day, straight up hill, on a dirt trail. I climbed over 1450 feet in elevation in just 3.6 miles. Lauren ran after me and climbed over 1600 feet elevation in 4 miles. I was so nervous for this leg, but we ROCKED it!

ALMOST THERE!!

Team #134 (most of us) at the finish line

STRESS FRACTURE!
BOO HOO!

How sad is this? I guess this is what I get for running too much. Last week, I went for my usual run and thought I was going to die I was in so much pain. I went to InstaCare to get an x-ray and they gave me this beautiful boot and I have to wear it for at least A MONTH, no running for one to maybe two months. I am so sad!!! I guess I will just have to bike and swim more....

FOURTH OF JULY WEEKEND TRIP TO ISLAND PARK

We had such a fun weekend at Rylan Hayes' cabin in Island Park. We watched fireworks along the lake (look at Brandon's great photography, watched episode after episode of Arrested Development, ate delicious food, boated, laid out, fished, hot tubbed and just RELAXED for the weekend. I had so much fun. Thanks Ry for a fabulous weekend!

Don't worry....I still managed to waterski with my gimpy foot. The waterski boot is just like my medical boot, right? Haha! The water was just too perfect, glassy and beautiful - plus Rylan made me....

ELDER JOSEPH WILLIAM WOOD

My cute little Joey left the MTC today and is headed for the Mesa, AZ mission field!! We got to talk to him this morning while he was waiting for his flight. I miss him so much already and he has only been gone for 3 weeks. Haha, this is gonna be a long 2 years with my little bro/confidante gone! But, I am so proud of him for serving a mission and I know he will be a fabulous missionary. Here are some fun pictures celebrating Joey today!

Joey's always in a beanie!!
